Kings and Queens - Teaching Process Skills

Kings and Queens is an activity which will challenge students to think about some of the underlying presuppositions of science - uniformity and knowability. During this activity students will be involved in hypothesis testing related to a deck of cards which has order - something we expect in science. However, as the students make hypotheses and try to find the pattern within the “card universe”, they will discover, as scientists do, that ideas have to change as time passes. What we thought might be true at one point in our investigation may not be true later.
